Transactional Analysis (TA) is a theory of human development, personality, and communication. It has concepts that can be learned and applied as tools for personal and professional growth and change. The underlying philosophy is one of mutual self-respect and caring and a belief in peoples’ ability to be responsible think for themselves and make their own decisions.The course is highly experiential with many opportunities for participants to bring their own contexts and experience and try out working with the concepts in small groups. This 12 hour course carries a TA 101 Certificate from the International Board of Certification (IBOC) - the Training and Certification wing of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA). IBOC falls under the oversight of the ITAA’s VP of Professional Standards.This course also carries 12 CCE Units (core competencies) from the ICF for ICF credentialed coaches.

Overview of the development of TA (from Berne to current TA thinking)
Theory of personality structure (motivational theory, structural and functional ego states, contaminations, strengthening and expanding the integrating Adult)
Theory of communication (transactions, strokes, social time structuring)
Theory of life patterns – script (scripts –co-creative identity, script messages and development, script matrix, updating script messages, beliefs and decisions, games, drama and winners triangle, racket analysis to explain internal processes, life positions, discounting and accounting)
TA methodology (use in different fields of specialisation)
Programme Structure & Fees
Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th February 2021
Class time will run from 10 am – 5.00 pm via Zoom
This programme is a highly experiential learning process over two full days (9am to 5pm) with mid-morning & afternoon coffee breaks and a 1 hour lunch break. It runs virtually using Zoom with participants committing to be fully present with both voice and video for effective connection and learning. A 50 page Handbook plus appendices with a book list and an extensive bibliography for further reading, is included in the course and sent digitally.
Karen Pratt has been studying and using TA since 2001. She is a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) and is the only TSTA in Africa holding an Educational specialisation. She is currently Chair of the South African Transactional Analysis Association (SATAA) and Co-Chair of the Professional Standards Committee of IBOC in association with the ITAA.
Learning, development and transformation are at the core of her expertise. She works as a coach, coach supervisor and facilitator, learning and development specialist, AI practitioner and TA trainer and Supervisor.
She has been running virtual introductory and advanced TA training groups for the past 5 years.
