Employers have a Duty of Care under the Health & Safety Act 1989 to provide appropriate support to those who have experienced a critical incident. Should your company, organisation, club, school or college need support in responding to a critical incident please contact Liz on 087 7800 500 for immediate support.
The purpose of psychological debriefing is to review the impressions and reactions of individuals following a traumatic event. Individuals will be invited to share their feelings and the impact of the traumatic event on them. This will be followed by a psychoeducational session in which their stress reactions will be normalised. They are given practical advice in relation to the reaction they are likely to experience and how best to care for themselves.
Those involved may have individual needs in coping with the present traumatic event or where other past experiences have been evoked. Face-to-face counselling sessions will be offered to individuals in need of more further support.
